My name is Mel Cottone and I live in Boca Raton, Florida.

My remarkable career in national politics began in 1960 when a local leader introduced me to Ted Kennedy who was in Logan, West Virginia helping his brother, then Senator John F. Kennedy, advance his presidential ambitions.

As an intelligent, educated, influential young man, I was instrumental in securing Senator Kennedy’s win in the West Virginia primary, which was essential in his winning the Democratic nomination.

In the nearly 60 years that have passed since my chance encounter with Ted and involvement on the Kennedy campaign, I have taken on many political roles ranging from Campaign Advance Man, to Presidential Appointee, Political Strategist, Campaign Advisor, Legal Counsel, and U.S. Senate Candidate from the State of Maryland.

Unlike today where people in my former positions fight for the spotlight, my work always required me to keep a low-profile.

Now that I'm retired, I've decided to bring history to life by sharing my fascinating personal experiences working with Presidents John F. Kennedy Lyndon B. Johnson through my lecture series.

I invite you to contact me if you're interested in learning more about my "Politics of the 60's" speaking series.
